I must confess. I didn’t like Robert Pattinson. And today I wish I had stood back. When Twilight was released and we saw that 10,000 people were camping in front of the movie theater of Los Angeles where the premiere was taking place , our first reaction as journalist was : “But why are they enjoying this saga ?”

When Pattinson had arrived a few hours later , he was so overwhelmed that he quickly disappeared. Just a few words to the media . We had thus concluded that this guy was big headed . It was a huge mistake. In fact , Pattinson is a real shy guy . Moreover , he is English , so he is a phlegmatic shy person. And when we chatted with him , for the release of Eclipse , I realized that he didn’t expect such a phenomenon that night at the Twilight premiere . Robert Pattinson is only 24 and nowadays , he is the most desired bachelor of the world. . And trust me , he still can’t cope with his fame . So he stays at home , never goes out at night and when he’s not playing this 107 years old virgin vampire, he chooses interesting roles in interesting films . But let’s focus today on Eclipse because it’s been released all around the world , I hope you will forgive me for this easy play on words . Here is “Interview with a vampire”

LOS ANGELES—ROBERT PATTINSON usually arrives at our interviews with an easy, sly grin on his face. The smile reminds us that we’re in for another humor-filled talk with the guy.

What was different this time was his haircut—cropped on the side—which made him look younger.

In this chat, Robert talks about his anxiety over the coming end of the “Twilight” series, how he feels about the kissing scenes between Kristen Stewart’s Bella and Taylor Lautner’s Jacob, and a life-changing moment, among others.

Robert has come a long way from the first time we interviewed him on the London set of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” in which he played Cedric Diggory.

Below are excerpts:

What are you looking forward to about “Breaking Dawn” being shot back-to-back as two films and of Bill Condon directing them?
I’m glad that it’s Bill Condon. I love his stuff. I haven’t seen the script yet but I am fearful about the series’ end. It’s such a great security blanket. It’s like a net. You can afford to make mistakes when you have another “Twilight” film to make. After that, I guess you’re on your own.

I’m glad the “Breaking Dawn” films will be done together. Because otherwise, it’s quite hard to fit another film in-between each one. Like what happened in “Eclipse”—having to get your mind back to where it was before. I had about a week of preparation time. It was quite stressful in the beginning. With the two films done together, you can just stay in character the whole time.

The vampire strikes back

As you’re neither Amish or a character from Lost (correct me if I’m wrong), we won’t do you the dishonour of introducing you to Robert Pattinson, 24 years old, the vampire that sparkles under the sun, the actor who was unknown two years ago but who conquered the Hollywood fortress and drives girls around the world crazy. You already know all that. You almost certainly know that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (directed by David Slade, director of Hard Candy), comes out in theatres July 7th, a mere seven months after New Moon. The vampire saga which is now worth more than a billion dollars at the international box office isn’t ready to hang up it fangs as the fourth instalment, Breaking Dawn, is already announced for November 2011. Pattinson is getting tons of offers and is currently negotiating an important turn in his career: become the new Johnny Depp or join Orlando Bloom and Hayden Christensen in the frozen aisle section. As he was finishing Bel Ami, a Maupassant classic and getting to beginning filming Water for Elephants, a Francis Lawrence drama (I am Legend) with Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz, R-Pattz got caught by Premiere for an exclusive interview.

P: The last time we spoke you were filming New Moon. Now one year later we meet again for The Twilight Saga Eclipse. I have trouble following it’s going so fast…

RP: Only two months went by between the filming of New Moon and Eclipse, during which I filmed Remember Me. Everything, went by so fast that I feel like I never really left Twilight. That being said, I still felt lost when I arrived on the set of Eclipse. I didn’t have any preparation time and it took me a few weeks to adapt.

P: What did you expect from David Slade and was he different on set from what you imagined?

While out promoting The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Edward Cullen himself Robert Pattinson spoke about his future film plans that go beyond the popular vampire series. Former Twilght star Cam Gigandet gave up his fangs for a pair of stirrups with his next film and Pattinson plans on doing the same. Get ready to see your precious Edward go all Dances with Wolves in a Western!

Pattinson told inquiring minds about his upcoming feature entitled, Unbound Captives. It’s a film that’s completely different from anything else you’ve seen him in so take your visions of Cedric Diggory and Edward Cullen and chuck them out the window.

„I’m playing a kid who’s kidnapped by Comanches when he was 4 years old and brought up by them. My mother spends her entire time trying to find me and my sister, and when she finds us we can’t remember who she is or remember anything about the Western culture. I speak Comanche the whole movie so that will be really different from Edward [laughs].“

Ok, Pattinson may have gained a little respect from me for taking on another language for the movie. In the film he’ll star opposite Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman, so this will be a stark contrast to anything he’s ever done in Twilight. Therefore, we had to ask if he took on the role because it was so different from playing Mr. Cullen.

„No, I actually signed onto that after I had done Twilight in the summer just a couple of months after I finished, so it was really before anything had happened. I didn’t really think about it, it was just a cool script. It reminded me in a lot of ways of Giant, and that’s one of my favorite movies, so I think that’s why I responded to it.“
