80s heartthrob Aidan Quinn hit the big time by starring with Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan. He has kept up a steady acting career while maintaining his 22-years-plus marriage to Elizabeth Bracco, who is the mother of his two children.
He offers a few words to Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson, 24.
“Try and pick good projects,” the actor, 51, tells me. “Do what you want to do that challenges you as an actor. Be smart, have fun and start to produce your own material because the big fame rarely lasts. There will come a day when the phone doesn’t ring as much as it used to.”

Robert Pattinson interview:
Unbelievably sexy
„Twilight“ star Robert Pattinson about love without rules, the first, exciting love, why he would love to have a dog and why he only lives in hotels.
Robert Pattinson drinks tea with milk for breakfast. He switchs off the air conditioning and in exchange opens a window. During the interview in the “Four Seasons” hotel in Beverley Hills the 24-year-old Twilight star wears a black t-shirt with beige Levis jeans. His legendary hair is cut short at the sides. That’s because of his role in the circus-drama “Water for Elephants” set in the 30’s, which he shoots at the moment alongside Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz. A huge difference to Edward Cullen, the vampire, with which millions of girls have fallen in love. In the third film of the series, named “Eclipse”, Bella (Kristen Stewart) has to avow to her undying love. In real life both of them remain silent about their relationship. Robert continues to be a man girls dream about.
All your “Twilight” colleagues said that you were in love with Edward after reading the books. In love with a vampire that abstains from sex before marriage. What do you think of that?
I think that Edward’s afraid of sex (laughs). No, I kind of understand his point of view, because the stage in which you are not sure of yourselves in a relationship is the most exciting. Maybe I’m old fashioned in this respect. There shouldn’t be rules for love. Some couples meet in a bar, sleep with each other the same evening and live happily ever after.
What do you think of girls that cry “Marry me” at your film premieres?
It’s mind-blowing but it’s just a part of my job.
Unless you live in another planet, you certainly know the actor Robert Pattinson plays the wonderful vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight and New Moon. You also know that the next installment of the saga, written by the american writter Stephenie Meyer, Eclipse, will come to the theaters soon, more specifically on June 30th. Now, in the third chapter of the story, Bella has to choose between vampire Edward and werewolf Jacob. You probably already know the path this will take.
So, how about something you don’t know? We were very lucky. We interviewed Robert Pattinson in Los Angeles, two days after his 24th birthday, and we asked him about his work in Eclipse, what to expect from Breaking Dawn and how does he handle the pressures of fame. He also talked about who he’s a fan of and why he doesn’t deserve a spot in the best dressed and sexiest men lists.
A: First and foremost, happy belated birthday! Well, since you play a character that never grows old, how do you deal with birthdays?
RP: Playing a vampire makes me feel like I’m getting older faster than I actually am, cause every six months I come back to the set and everyone says: „What have you been doing? It seems like you’re one year older.“ I turned 24 and I feel like 35.
A: Eclipse opens very soon. Do you think the fans will be surprised?
RP: Twilight had a story more focused on Edward and Bella and New Moon was more about Jacob. So, Eclipse is interesting cause everyone has their place and the audience can see Edward, Bella and Jacob interacting with each other.
A: And to you, what was the biggest challenge in playing Edward this time around?
Not that long ago the names Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were just that, names.
But in 2008 came Twilight, the blockbuster movie series based on Stephenie Meyer’s books which launched a phenomenon and rocketed the two previous unknowns to stardom.
Two films and two billion dollars later, the hype around the box office hit is stronger than ever, the power of which Stewart admits can be overwhelming.
„It’s undeniable energy and that’s what I’m responding to usually and that’s why I get sort of so crazy,“ she says.
For Pattinson, the hype is signalled by the appeal of the Twilight brand.
„You look at like every kind of gossipy website or anything and it’s always got polls about Twilight, anything, you put Twilight in the headline and people are going to go to it,“ he says.
With Pattinson 24 and Stewart just 20, life has changed for these two stars, hounded by media and facing persistent rumours that link the pair romantically.
Pattinson has also been the target of some dubious contact.
„I’ve had a bunch of people say yeah man I met you at this thing… all the time. And you get a bunch of people that found your phone number somehow, it’s so obvious that they have somehow found it through nefarious sources.“ He says.
Before Twilight became a world-wide sensation, Pattinson was known only for a small part in the Harry Potter film series.
Stewart was recognised only for her role as the young daughter of Jodie Foster in Panic Room.
Now, however, they are household names, with series’ the third movie, Twilight: Eclipse, about to hit cinemas around the world.
But when it comes to how fame has affected those closest to him, Pattinson says things are fairly normal on the home front.
Robert Pattinson hysteria is crazy. Would you want that level of fame?
– “I’ve already experienced girls screaming my name, so I wouldn’t say it’s too alien, but I think Rob’s in a very difficult situation. He’s a friend and he’s a good guy. I know him, so I know for a fact that he wants to be known for his work.”

Move over Hugh Grant and Daniel Craig. Right now, Robert Pattinson is the biggest British movie star in Hollywood. Since hit vampire films Twilight and New Moon, R-Patz mania has exploded. Once, girls left notes on his car windscreen. Now they set themselves on fire outside his hotel.
„You start getting a bit paranoid,“ he admits. „Looking around when you’re walking down the street, in case you get mobbed by teenage girls.“
When Pattinson, 23, shot his latest film, romantic drama Remember Me, in New York, the hysteria almost killed him. Spotted by a bunch of ‘Twi-hards’ (as his obsessive fans are known), he crossed the road – narrowly missing being hit by a taxi. Everywhere, fans crowded to watch him shoot scenes with co-star Emilie de Ravin.
„It was mad,“ he says. „I didn’t see it coming. I thought it was going to be a little film shot in New York, and I’d be able to just hang out!“
For Pattinson, those days are long gone. „I spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to not be seen,“ he explains. „It’s annoying but the pay-off is infinite.
If no one finds out where you’re staying, if people aren’t following you, or outside a restaurant if you have dinner there… then it’s great.“
The big question is over his relationship with Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart. The pair reputedly got together when filming New Moon, but when Stewart collected the Orange Rising Star Bafta in February, they arrived separately – presumably to avoid a ‘Twi-hard’ riot. Does he find it even more difficult to go out with Stewart?
„It’s difficult either way,“ he says, refusing to elaborate. „When the spotlight seems centred on you, the best thing is to remain as much of a mystery as you can.“
Actors Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson Talk Fame, Rumors and On-screen Romance as „New Moon“ Approaches
Young love isn’t easy to begin with, but when you throw in vampires, daggers and wolves into the mix, it doesn’t get any eaiser.
The much-anticipated second installment of the „Twilight“ saga plunges audiences even further into the romance and heartbreak between its main characters, Bella and Edward.
CBS Newspath correspondent Teri Okita sat down with the stars of „New Moon“ to talk about how being at the center of this cult hit and the rumors that go with it have affected them.
Their on-screen chemistry is undeniable.
But it’s the off-screen rumors of a romance between „New Moon“ stars Kristen Stewart and Rob Pattinson that has „Twilight“ fans and the media abuzz. They keep mum on the subject and claim they don’t pay attention to the gossip.
„I didn’t believe in tabloids before I was in them, so like I really don’t … you know what I mean? I really don’t care,“ Stewart said.
Stewart and Pattinson became international stars after the first movie in the „Twilight“ saga grossed nearly 400-million dollars worldwide.
It also made Pattinson a teen heart-throb. He told Okita about the time he was in a Vancouver bar with two of his co-stars.
„Just girls constantly coming up and asking for photos and stuff and guys eventually start to notice that their girlfriends are coming over and everything, and then, suddenly you see a bunch of guys all talking to eachother and you’re like, ‘OK we got to leave now!’ “ Pattinson laughed.
Despite „Twilight’s“ huge cult following, Pattinson says he feels no pressure playing the vampire, Edward.
„I’ve never been nervous about the fan expectations or anything. I’ve never really even thought about it,“ Pattinson said.
